Overview
The 2019 Chihuahua Agro Expo was held on August 15 and 16 in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico. The NMSU College of ACES secured a booth for the purpose of presenting and promoting the various academic programs within the college.

The NMSU-ACES team that participated in this event included the following: Soum Sanogo, Sam Fernald, two graduate students and one staff (Joaquin Figueroa, Jorge Preciado, and Mark Sheely), and two Chihuahuenses who are ACES alumni from the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (Alonso Garcia and Jorge Fernandez).

More than 80 people visited the NMSU-ACES booth and inquired on various academic and research programs within the college. To the best of my knowledge and assessment, ACES had the only educational booth at the Agro Expo. This played to our advantage and underscored the large volume of visitors.

The salient inquiries were as follows:

  1. What are the different academic programs in ACES, and how to embark on a degree program?
  2. What are the career paths associated with various degree programs?
  3. What are the financial opportunities that are available (scholarship and assistantship)?
  4. What is the tuition for Mexican students?
  5. What is the tuition for Mexican-Americans?
  6. Are there any exchange programs with ACES that would benefit students in Chihuahua?
  7. What is the process in becoming a visiting scientist in an ACES program?
  8. Will ACES be interested in participating in university career fairs for high schools in Chihuahua (for example La Salle High School)?
  9. Will ACES be interested in educational Online Auction & Trading technologies for livestock, which could benefit, for example, 4-H programs? (This inquiry was from a group called AGRARIUM Technologies)
